Althea Jarrett

A graduate of the University of the West Indies, Miss Jarrett holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Upper Second Class Honours) from the Mona Campus in Jamaica, and a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Upper Second Class Honours) from the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados.  She is also the holder of a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School.

Althea is the Deputy Solicitor-General, Litigation and State Proceedings and she heads the Litigation Division. She joined the chambers in December 2011 and has 24 years at the bar. She has practiced law both locally and regionally. She was called to the Jamaican Bar in 1995, the Bar of St. Kitts and Nevis in 2000, and the Bar of Antigua and Barbuda in 2009.  Althea has served as a Clerk of the Courts at both the Half Way Tree and the Sutton Street Resident Magistrates’ Court, Legal Officer at the Fair Trading Commission and Project Attorney at the Urban Development Corporation.  She has worked as an Attorney-at-Law in several law firms in the Eastern Caribbean whose practice areas included litigation, commercial litigation, commercial and corporate law, conveyancing and  banking law.   Prior to becoming an Attorney-at-Law, Althea had a career in banking at the then Jamaica Citizens Bank.
